Industrial Properties And Warehouses Results
— We appealed the assessments on a client’s brand new warehouses, most of which were vacant. The Board of Equalization lowered the fair market value of one of the buildings by $5 million, resulting in a current tax savings of about $208,000 a year.
— Ms. Steele took an appraiser on a tour of a shopping center located in a blighted area. In the official appeal, the Board reduced the fair market value by $8 million, for a current annual tax savings of some $300,000.

Multifamily Real Estate Tax Appeals Results
— For one apartment building owner, we used an income approach to contest the reassessed value. The Board of Equalization reduced the fair market value by $4 million, resulting in approximately $45,000 in tax savings to our client.
— We also got an independent living apartment building owned by a 503(c) religious organization exempted from taxation, saving about $140,000 per year.
— In other cases, the Tax Commission upheld a reduction in valuation, based on a procedural error by the local assessor, which resulted in a 20 percent cut in the property taxes on our clients’ apartment complexes.
