Quid pro quo: If a superior demands sexual favors in exchange for promotion, employment, or some other positive work experience, it constitutes "quid pro quo" sexual harassment. Quid pro quo harassment can also involve superiors making threats of demotion, etc. if sexual favors are not performed.

Hostile work environment: If a workplace has a consistent pattern of severe and pervasive harassment, it could qualify as a hostile work environment. The harassment can be in the form of lewd conduct, visual images, etc. A handful of isolated incidents do not make for a valid case.

Sexual harassment is not always a matter of men preying on women. It can also refer to women harassing men or same-sex situations.
